Visvim Fall/Winter 2009 Logan Deck Low

The best to never do it: Big L

Big L has been one of my favorite lyricists since I was put on back in the day. Always felt he was a mix of Jay-Z x Canibus. His lines are still cold today...check out this documentary trailer:

I remember taking this down to our boat, playing it, and my dad taking it away cuz it had "too much cussing" lol! Found it in a box around ten years later lol...classic record, pass the red cup:

BUY THIS SHIRT!!

HERE

With the recent passing of Slum Village member Baatin, we at Motivation and our partner Mick Boogie wanted to pay tribute to one of Detroit’s finest hip hop groups ever. The Slumdog t-shirt is done in classic Run DMC styling, but we flipped the iconic logo to stand for Slum Village. Proceeds from the sale of this t-shirt will be donated directly to the families of Baatin & J Dilla

I know y'all have seen that Cotton commercial w/ @JSullivanMusic . Well if you haven't check it out below. Even better, I found online where you can download the full song. Dope music (gospel roots) can make anything sound amazing...shoot they could've done a song about Drano & made it sound good! Lol!

Dope site I ran across...

Every time I tell people I'm from Detroit 75% of the responses I get are cliche comments about how bad or run down the city is. One cat I know even mentioned to me the numerous amounts of abandoned sky scrapers there are. This site I ran across tells of some of the city's most historic buildings; taking a look at them in the prime & their current state. Hasn't been updated in a minute but quite interesting nevertheless...check it out: http://www.ForgottenDetroit.com

First time @B_Wright & I met Slum...

If only y'all could understand how big of a Slum fan I am...this video should give some insight. Str8 throwback from the WT archives...1st time we met all of 'em. I still got that autographed poster hanging in my basement in the D...seems like everytime I go home I'm collecting my memorabilia of an artist that is now gone...smh...sad. But this video is funny cuz I'm soo young & geeked to meet my fav rap group. Now I have professional relationships w/these cats...what a blessing. RIP Baatin!

BTW, "Trinity" was the soundtrack for our summer that year...great memories!

You will be missed Baatin...

Every member of Slum was/is very unique in their own style. This was most certainly the case for Baatin aka Baatizzle. Tin was a staple in the Detroit hip-hop scene. The chemistry T3, Dilla, Baatin & Elzhi had was something that was so authentically Detroit it could sonically take me to the lodge or 7 Mile while in the A or anywhere else in the country. Looking forward to this new album more than ever now! You will be missed homie...
