PREACH!!!

I could not have said any of this better myself:

  1. Excellent posts guys! Definitely a lot of truth spoken in these videos. There isn't anything I can really say that hasn't already been said especially on the subject of A&Rs. I miss the days of artist & producer being in the same studio. That being such a rarity nowadays is the #1 reason for the lack of "Classic albums" in my opinion. I believe It's just imperative to have that connection.

I think that's what I admire most about the work done by you guys and Big Sean. When I speak of WrighTrax to others I let people know you're "Big Sean's Producers". You guys have great chemistry and it shows in the music. It's the perfect equation to equal timeless, classic material.

I hope Isaac's message is heard by those in the industry so that the knowledge can be spread & the creative energy can flow more frequently.

  2. Initially, I had disagreed with the first video. Because I think that occasionally, knowing too much about a certain thing can put you out of touch. For example, I'm a writer - and writing is an art in many ways - and I know that certain shit seems wack to me, but it's really efficient to someone who's not a writer. I think it's quite possible that an expert musician can be so focused on details that they miss the big picture of how other people will perceive the music. But he's still got a point, because an artist is less likely to grow if their advisor doesn't know shit about music, because he doesn't know what details/help to offer.

The second video is dead-on, though. Just like Saigon said, "People don't make hit records anymore: they buy them." The thing is that just like Ike said, even sales are on his argument's side, citing people like Aaliyah, Michael Jackson, etc.
